Every year, around 4000 people in the United States lose their lives in unintentional drowning incidents. These incidents are also the second leading cause of children’s unintentional deaths from ages 5 to 14. Swimming pools have also led to many unintentional drowning incidents among children.
Last month, amid enjoying a summer vacation a 5-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a resort’s pool and lost his life. Yesterday, another calamity happened in North Carolina County. In Johnston County, a young boy lost his life while swimming in a pool. This horrifying incident has caused concern regarding the rising drowning incident numbers.
Tragedy struck in North Carolina

On August 15, a heartbreaking incident left the swimming community aghast. A 12-year boy lost his life in a swimming pool drowning incident. According to Joco Report, on Monday afternoon, the boy, whose further details have not been revealed yet, was taking a dip in his backyard pool at home, located off Lee-Johnson Road. The boy was a resident of Meadows Community, located in the southern area of Johnston County, North Carolina.
Amid this drowning, the police investigated the situation and declared the 12-year-old’s death to be purely accidental. Nonetheless, Johnson County’s sheriffs are still investigating this unfortunate incident while further details are yet to revealed.
Young children losing their lives in swimming pool incidents have become a growing concern in the United States. Prior to this heartbreaking incident, last month another budding soul lost his life. 5-year-old Robin Caliskal drowned in front of his parents in a resort’s swimming pool, as the parents told the media, “Robin died in front of my eyes.”

Another swimming calamity in Cornwall
Last month, on July 31, a tragedy struck in Atlantic Reach Holiday Park, located in Cornwall. A 5-year-old boy named Robin Caliskal lost his life in a drowning incident. The 5-year-old who was swimming in the pool of the resort struggled in the waters and eventually drowned in the pool. According to the Caliskal family, due to the low barriers surrounding the pool and the dim lights surrounding the resort’s pool, they could not see their son struggling in the water. The paramedics tried to revive Robin, but sadly, the 5-year-old could not survive the calamity

Hopefully, the authorities will look more into the 12-year-old’s drowning incident. As losing young souls who have yet to explore their lives to the fullest is truly a gut-wrenching experience. Such incidents also truly highlight the importance of providing preventive measures and proper education regarding the swimming of children and elders alike.
