Caeleb Dressel was recently spotted participating in a 200-meter freestyle event at the UF vs. UVA dual meet. After finishing both 100-meter free splits in 47.50 and 47.47, the athlete managed to win the event in 1:34.98. Following this staunch win for Dressel, the athlete surpassed the recent 200-meter freestyle gold winner Danas Rapsy’s time in leg 1 of the 2023 Swimming World Cup. The swimmer representing Lithuania finished the final event in 1:45.75, followed by Maximillian Giuliani and Kieran Smith, who clocked in 1:46.18 and 1:48.15, respectively. This win came for Dressel after the athlete failed to qualify for the World Championship. Due to mental health struggles, the athlete could not train for the championship trials.

Caeleb Dressel does not qualify for the World Championship
At the U.S. nationals, which served as the trials for the World Championships, Caeleb Dressel failed to secure his ticket. The athlete, who began his training in late February, finished the race 22nd in the 50-meter freestyle. After this performance, the athlete discussed his mental health struggles in an interview. According to Dressel, “The easiest way to put it is my body kept score. A lot of things I had shut down, and it all came boiling up.”
