1) The first fact about the swimmer is the first time she was successful in gaining national attention was in 1975 when she swam around Manhattan which is 28m or 45km in record time breaking a 50-year-old record. After she retired from swimming in 1979, she became a sports journalist and covered world championships and the Olympics for Fox Sports.
