The 2024 Olympics is only months away. Many staunch swimmers have geared up to secure a win for their countries in Paris next year. Amid this list, a 27-year-old Paralympic swimmer who has secured two medals in Paralympics games for the United States till now is also currently training from her base in Houston, Texas.

Interestingly, following her Olympics dream recently, the athlete was spotted in Hawai. Amid her training visit for the 2024 Paralympics games, the athlete decided to inspire young swimmers at a local swimming school in Hawaii. The 27-year-old Elizabeth ‘Lizzi’ Smith also shared her personal struggle stories with the Hawaiian swimming community.

While training for the Olympics 2024, Elizabeth ‘Lizzi’ Smith recently visited Hawaii. Amid the training visit, the 27-year-old swimmer was spotted in the country to inspire the local swimming enthusiasts. Many young swimmers inspired by Smith were seen surrounding the athlete at a local school named Swim Lesson Hawaii. In an interview with Swimming World Magazine, the school’s founder and head coach, Oleksii Savenko, while showcasing her appreciation for Smith, stated, “Having Elizabeth “Lizzi” Smith here at Swim Lesson Hawaii is a dream come true for our students.”

During Smith’s visit to the swimming school, the athlete shared her expertise with the students. Furthermore, in this event, attended by local swimming clubs of children and the U.S. masters swimming adult group, Smith discussed the necessity of hard work and discipline required to strive in this sport. The athlete also shared some personal setbacks she overcame to succeed as a Paralympic swimmer.

Interestingly, this inspirational initiative comes after the athlete was able to secure a medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. The athlete participated in the S9 100-meter butterfly to win the medal.

Elizabeth “Lizzi” Smith secures silver

In 2021, after winning a bronze in Rio 2016, Smith secured her second Olympic medal. In the S9 event, the athlete finished the race in 1:08.22 minutes to secure a silver. The first position was taken by Zsofia Konkloy, who finished the race in 1;07.05. At the event, the athlete also participated in the 100-meter backstroke S9 event. However in the backstroke race the athlete could not secure a position by finishing the final race in 1:14.24. Amid this time, Smith had to settle for the fifth position.
