Leon Marchand is one swimming sensation that needs to be watched out for! The swimming prodigy of the French team has been standing at the top of the table in this realm with his back-to-back spectacular performances. This 21-year-old has attained achievements that one can only dream of. 76 days after obliterating the legend Michael Phelps’ 400m individual medley world record in the 2023 World Aquatics on the 23rd of July 2023, he has once again proved his worth in ASU’s Friday dual meet against UNLV.

Entering his junior season at Arizona State University, he has delivered stupendous performances in every single event he jumped in the pool for. Be it the 100m breaststroke or the 400 IM, he has just given something worth watching to the spectators. It is hard to stop the applause for this legend, as he has just been exceptional.

Leon Marchand reigns over the swimming community in ASU’s dual meet

This Frenchman is heading toward attaining stardom at a home Olympic Games next summer in Paris. This is very succinct as every time he is in the waters, he is seen delivering a brilliant performance and highlighting his dominance level. With his amazing wins in the ASU against UNLV, his admirers list has just increased.

In this event on the 6th of October 2023, Marchand won three times and recorded a swift breaststroke split. Kyle Sockwell praising Marchand shared a post on his X account. He shared a picture of Leon in the pool and the caption carried, “Leon Marchand just had another all-time dual meet performance at home for ASU against UNLV.” 

This exceptional sensation created a 50.4 (split) in the 100 Breaststroke. He nabbed the win in 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:39.65, another to the list is 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:39.64. In the 400 Individual Medley, he secured a win with a stupendous 3:37.96. He took his team to a 229-71 win with his incomparable skills. With this, Marchand also not only created records but he has also broken some.

Leon Marchand surpassed Michael Phelp’s record

The 2023 Aquatic Championship saw a tremendous start and the entire credit goes to the Frenchman Leon Marchand. He ruled in the 400m individual medley event by breaking the all-time favorite Micheal Phelps’ long-time record. Phelps’ mark was unbeatable for 5,110 days, it was the longest-held world record in the history of the sport. However, with Marchand entering the realm, he turned the tables.

In the 400m IM, Marchand touched the 4:02.50 surpassing Phelps’ record of 4:03.84. He cut through the water like a bullet, racing to the finish line ahead of everyone. After breaking the record, he also won the 200 IM and 200 Butterfly and was given the title of the best male swimmer of the meet. The legend Phelps himself took a bow in front of the young legend and passed his crown to him.
