Another infant suffers a water tragedy despite Baltimore Bullet’s tenacious attempts to encourage safe swimming. While millions of people agree that Michael Phelps is a beast in the pool, he agrees with the hazards of the water. The CDC reports that drowning is the leading cause of mortality for kids between the ages of 1-4. Being familiar with the disastrous potential of water Phelps actively advocates safe swimming practices for minors. However, several endeavors and initiatives fall short due to grave negligence, which causes over 4,000 drownings each year.

For the swimmer and father of three who wants to raise awareness, the statistics are always of utmost concern. People gathered by the pool as summer arrived in America, which once again increased the risk of drowning mishaps. Yet another life was put in danger due to poolside negligence in a recent saddening incident in Rhode Island.

Swimming tragedy fails relentless safety efforts

On 28 July a 2-year-old drowned in an above-ground swimming pool in Coventry, Kent County. According to the police, emergency responders hurried to Tero Drive around 7 p.m.?when the call reported an unconscious infant. The child was taken to the hospital Friday evening in a critical condition reported WPRI. The Coventry Police Department confirmed an investigation is under progress since the baby was discovered in an unresponsive state.

How the toddler got into the pool is now a mystery. Chief Rick Heise provided more information on the incident, adding that the child had received CPR and other resuscitative measures before being taken to Kent County Hospital. Heise further stated that the child was then sent to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for additional medical attention. Right now, the kid’s health is still serious.

Taking note of such tragedies Phelps takes charge by sharing “alarming” stats and instructing children on safety practices. Phelps sets a good example for his children and actively involves himself in their water safety training. To get them accustomed to the sensation he used to detest, he also frequently “dunked” them in the water. Phelps believes that giving children confidence in the water is the most important part of their first swimming session and advocates the same through various initiatives.
