The 9th edition of the World Junior Swimming Championships 2023 started with a bang on September 4. It was an eventful day for Team U.S.A. to assert their supremacy in the sport. Their biggest challenger however was world gold medalist Flynn Southam from Australia. The U.S. junior swimmers were out for blood and looked hungry for the win in Netanya, Israel. However, the fates had other plans in store for them.
The American team got their first lick of success on Day 1 of the finals with two gold medals in both the men’s and women’s 4x100m freestyle relay. The Mixed 4×100 Freestyle Relay final saw that winning streak break as their arch-rivals took the podium.
