Team USA continues to face setbacks in Berlin waters. On the first day of the event, many US swimming prodigies had to face disappointments at the 2023 Swimming World Cup. Charlie Clark could not secure a position in the 400-meter freestyle, while Kieran Smith had to settle for third place in the final event.
Following this news, another 30-year-old US swimmer prodigy faced a loss. At the 100-meter breaststroke event, five-time world champion Nic Fink lost his gold in 59.68 seconds after facing a heated competition by a Chinese swimming prodigy.

Nic Fink could not secure a position in the 100-meter breaststroke. The 30-year-old swimmer, who was participating from lane one, finished the race by clocking in 59.68, while his in-pool rival Haiyang Qin, representing China, secured the first prize by clocking in 57.69.
The second and third positions were secured by Arno Kamminga Caspar Corbeau, who finished the race in 59.01 and 59.27, respectively. Interestingly, this loss for Fink comes after a poor performance in the heats. The 30-year-old qualified for the event by securing the seventh position by clocking in at 1:00.46, while Qin secured the first position at 58.41.
Interestingly, apart from Fink, Quin Haiyang also defeated five-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty at the event. The athlete who went candid about his rivalry with the 24-year-old had a disappointing finish in Berlin waters.

Before the highly anticipated 100-meter event, Adam Peaty shared his thoughts regarding Haiyang in an interview. The athlete, who was ready for a challenge by the Chinese star, added, “Everyone’s out for my blood. It’s been the same with that target on my back for nearly ten years. I Just go-join the queue.?
Interestingly, shortly after the interview, Peaty was faced with disappointment as the British swimmer secured the sixth position after finishing the race in 59.85. Amid Haiyang?s performance at the event, the athlete also became the 2nd fastest man in the 100m breaststroke event, coming close to Peaty’s record, who holds the first position in the top 10 100m breaststroke performance list by finishing the event in 56.88 at the 2019 World Aquatics Championship.

In essence, despite their best efforts, both Nic Fink and Adam Peaty could not surpass Qin Haiyang in the Berlin waters. The fans are now girded up to witness these staunch athletes compete again while showcasing an extraordinary performance.
