The United States Swim Team has always been a cut above the rest. Recently, at the U.S. World Championship Trials 2023, the USA swimming team was once again able to prove its dominance. Three swimmers excelled by clocking new times and broke one of the most staunch swimming record. This is certainly a good sign ahead of the World Championship Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The women’s 100 m dash was especially exciting, as more than one sprinter was able to shatter the previous world record. The historic moment was documented in a video and later shared on Twitter. This video was shared on the official USA Swimming Twitter account with the caption, “A single race just came down to the top-3 times in the world this year.” Torri Huske, Gretchen Walsh, and Kate Douglas displayed extraordinary speed and set new world records in a single dash. This has stirred a frenzy on social media because it is rare to have three sprinters break world records in one event.

Torri Huske was the first one to reach the finish line, clocking in with a time of 56.18. Next came Gretchen Walsh, finishing the dash at 56.34, and lastly, Kate Douglass finished with a time of 56.43. They delivered performances that were nothing short of incredible, prompting the crowd to erupt in cheers as they realized they had just witnessed the making of history. The record until now was by China’s Zhang Yufei, who had clocked in 56.48. All three sprinters were able to shave off significant time from their previous record.

Unprecedented Personal Bests in Women’s 100m Dash

Huske’s time of 56.18 was nearly half a second off her previous American record of 55.64. She made this record at the 2022 World Championships and won the gold medal. Walsh’s finish time of 56.34 was about half a second off her personal best of 56.73. The ace swimmer had made this record at the NCAP just last month. The 21-year-old Kate Douglas shed 0.13 seconds off her last record time of 56.56 at the 2021 Olympic Trials. Overall, you can say the trajectory for the U.S. Swim Team looks good for now.
