The Arizona State Sun Devils are among the best swimming programs in the country. As the men’s squad take over the Pac-12 Championships in Washington, the women’s team are making things look even better. The NCAA swimming and diving championships will commence later this month and the Sun Devils are expected to make a splash at the D1 event.

The NCAA Division 1 Committee announced the qualified swimmers from across the country who have a shot at national glory this year. And from the looks of things, the Sun Devils’ chances are looking pretty great. With the list unveiled, it’s understandable that the festivities are well on their way, and who could be blamed for bracing up for some impending thrilling action?

Sun Devils swimmers gearing up for major medal haul

In a recent Twitter post by the official Sun Devil Swim/Dive account, the long list of swimmers has been revealed triumphantly. The program’s women’s team wrapped up the 2024 Pac-12 Championships in style with multiple podium finishes. And now, with the NCAA on the horizon, more assuring news are headed Arizona’s way. “Congratulations to the 9 Sun Devil women who are going to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Georgia from March 20-23!”, reads the evidently jubilant post as it goes on to list all the swimmers.

The third-place finisher at the Pac-12 Championships in the 800m free Molly Batchelor has been announced in the qualifying team, while another Australian Charli Brown will also lend her expertise to the team. Sophomore Deniz Ertan also did impressively at the Pac-12 and is set to come in handy at the longer races in the national tournament. For senior Lindsay Looney, the Pac-12 proved to be a highly successful event with her setting a school record in the 200m fly event. And now, Lindsay is once again projected as one of the main driving forces behind the Sun Devils’ national aspirations.

Another Pac-12 podium finisher Alexa Reyna also made it to the list along with freshman Erin Milligan, and sophomore Zoe Summar. School record holder in women’s 200IM Leva Maluka, and another sophomore Emma Gehlert round off the list. As the women look forward to the challenges, the men’s team continue to set things on fire under coach Bob Bowman.

Arizona State earns numerous accolades

The first two days of the ongoing Pac-12 men’s swimming and diving witnessed the ASU team send out ripples across the country’s best swimming talents. Breaking the previous NCAA 200m medley record, the Sun Devils kicked off the tournament in style, while Leon Marchand and Jack Dolan both set new individual records in the 50m free and the 500m free events respectively. With their sensational performance, Bob Bowman once again made it clear why his name evokes such respect among the country’s as well as the world’s swimming scene.
