The first and most important counsel that Dr. Kennedy gave was that parents should not feel guilty while making time for themselves. “If you ever miss your life before parenthood, you’re not alone. And you’re not a bad parent. We gain so much when we have children and, at the same time, there’s also a lot of loss”, added the parenting coach. Another directive that she gave to parents was to spend some quality time with friends and close-knit acquaintances to feel more in touch with their ‘pre-child’ lives.
One more piece of advice that she gave with which Nicole Phelps felt most connected was that parents should prioritize sparing me time for themselves every now and often. Clearly, with the hoard full of parenting lessons and valuable counsel, Dr. Becky Kennedy is helping millions of parents around the globe. Joining forces with those millions is Michael Phelps’ wife Nicole Phelps, who can’t agree more with Dr. Kennedy’s parenting advice.
