Phelps probably got his athletic genes from his father, who was once a sportsperson too. But unlike the swimmer, his father was a football player. While preparing for the Olympics, Phelps consumed nearly 12000 calories every day. His diet mostly included fruits, vegetables, and lean grilled protein.
