The recent FINA World Championships trials saw her setting the fastest time since 2018 and displayed her strength in the 800-meters event. A unique takeaway is that she holds the top 25 world record times, in the 800-meters; proving, she is a generational talent.
Katie Ledecky holds a unique record
This year’s swimming trials saw wonderful performances from most of the athletes. 17-year-old Claire Curzan is the new kid on the block, aiming to qualify for several events. But, Ledecky silently goes around her business setting splendid times. She finished the race by setting 8:09.27; her fastest time since 2018 in the 800-meters.

Back at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, she won the gold medal by setting a time of 8:09.13. The latest time is the sixth-fastest time in her career while she holds the top 25 timings in this event.
Holding the current world record with a time of 8:04.79, Ledecky has been ultra-consistent to set fast times in every single race. She set the world record at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Not even the GOAT Michael Phelps is that dominant in a single swimming event. Just stunning!

To see the authority, she has over her competitors is just incredible. Looking at the World Championship trials, Leah Smith finished second with a time of 8:17.52. There is a 20-second gap between the two swimmers. Hence proved, Katie Ledecky is a talent like no one else.
The great swimmer is the key medal hope for the USA at the World Championships. She and Caeleb Dressel are the two frontrunners of Team USA in the swimming competitions. Hopefully, they can perform well and fetch medals for their nations. For Ledecky, barring any other injuries, she can guarantee a gold medal in both the 800m and 1500-meters in Hungary.
