But all was not good in Phelps’s career; there were some dark phases. Michael had a tough time dealing with his rehab. Perhaps that was the most infamous event of his career, also probably the most troublesome phase of his life.

The Privacy problems Michael Phelps faced and the Infamous Bong Incident

In an old interview with Joe Buck, Olympian Michael Phelps narrates the ordeal he had to endure. Recounting the time of his rehab days, Phelps reveals how a picture of him holding a bong turned his life upside down. The picture came three months after his historic 8-gold medal performance in the Beijing Olympics.

Speaking about the picture leak, Phelps says, There were six people in that house, and one person that I didn’t really know is the one [who took the picture]. I know who it is. I know his name. What can I do?” When asked why he did not take any legal course toward the person, Michael answered, “That kid’s gotta look at himself in the mirror every day. Karma’s a b****.”
