Things that are meant to be will always come back, similar is the case with Sean Killion’s swimming career. Killion was a distance freestyler who excelled in both 400 and 1500 at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He has portrayed his skills in multiple other events like the 1986 Goodwill Games. He competed in the Pan Pacific Championships as well, where he won 400 gold in 1991 and 400 silver in 1987. Even after being so accomplished, he chose sales as his career. However, after an incredibly long time away, his destiny is calling him back.

Sean Killion, who had ruled over the 1992 U.S. Olympics, had taken a break for a while but is now returning to his arena. After taking a break and leaving this area, he graduated and then took and then settled for an assistant coaching job at Rutgers, which is in New Jersey. And then, by completely abandoning the sport, he opted for a career in sales. He also enjoys surfing now and then. He is an all-rounder, which is not easy for everyone. Now, at the age of 55, he is coming back to his roots.
He will be giving coaching another chance. Killion is returning as the head coach of the Mavericks Swimming Association Club in September. According to Swim Swam, this swimming association that practices at the Half Moon Bay High School Pool attained the certification of a Bronze Medal club by USA Swimming 2016. He never left his passion for swimming.

He is more than elated to get back where he was, where he belongs. He always had this in the back of his mind that coaching is something that he should do at some point. Sean Killion added, “I just started looking around, ‘What are the programs in the area who might need help?” He spent half of his time working at Indeed, where he saw the job ad for a head coach. It was like the mother ship was calling him home.

From defeating the distance legend Vladimir Salnikov to shifting jobs, it has been a roller coaster for Killion. From swimming to sales, and surfing, he is one multi-talented entity. And there is no doubt about the fact that he is one of the best swimmers and will excel at everything he does.
