To have a career as great as Michael Phelps is a blessing. Perhaps one in a million kind of rare. However, it doesn’t make you invincible. Michael Phelps is indeed the greatness personified. With 23 Olympic gold medals, 39 world records, and every known swimming title under his name, he has led a career hard to surpass. He is a living example that when dedication meets hard work, success is inevitable.

Perhaps what makes life worth living is the fact that it tests you at every step of your journey. Of course, your challenges may vary from individual to individual, but you can’t escape them. Just because Phelps is a GOAT in swimming doesn’t mean he can skip his personal life challenges. However, the legend approaches everything that comes his way differently now.

On coursing through the obstacles of life, Phelps said, “I’m still learning to just be a human. For most of my career, I saw myself as a swimmer. But I’m not a swimmer, I’m a person — and I have emotions like everyone else.”

Moreover, the Olympic champion has made peace with who he is. He further added, “My journey outside of water is really just beginning. So I’m trying to give myself forgiveness when I slip up or don’t do something perfectly.”

Phelps explains his Kentucky Derby experience

Michael Phelps and his wife Nicole Phelps were amongst the lucky ones who witnessed Rich strike’s historic victory at the Kentucky Derby. Though his reaction after the race was that of an amateur, given that it was just his second time at the races. However, like everyone else, he was certainly thrilled by the unbelievable spectacle at the Kentucky Derby.

Elaborating on his experience at the race, he further added, “it’s impressive watching these animals do what they do. It is just my second time here. It is so special. I don’t know what to say. I’m a scatter-brain. I am excited.”
