Michael Phelps’ ice bath routine

Recently, a Twitter handle named PGA Tour shared a video of Michael with professional golfer Justin Thomas. They discussed the fastest ways to recover after a competition. The Baltimore bullet can be seen filling the huge tubs with ice. The video was captioned, “Compete like a pro, Recover like a pro @JustinThomas34 and @MichaelPhelps discuss recovery routines with a post-round ice bath.”

In the video, Phelps described how icy baths are the easiest way to recover, benefiting the muscles. He said, “Now that I’m retired, I still do this all the time. I think this is one of the best and easiest ways to recover, and it’s so good for your muscles.” Michael added, “Came out a little faster than I thought. (pouring the ice) I guess I’ll fill the rest in mine.”

As they both jumped into the tub and started shivering, the Olympic gold medalist added, “For me, I have to workout every single day. So if I’m lifting three days a week, or cardio four days a week, that’s me being my best self.”
