Michael Phelps saw astounding success in his career as a swimmer. He became the most decorated Olympian in history, with 28 medals, 23 of them gold, and broke 39 world records. He is considered one of the greatest athletes of all time.

But Phelps’ success doesn’t restrict itself to the pool. He has also dabbled in other sports, like golf, and is an avid poker player. The Michael Phelps Foundation reflects his efforts toward charitable causes, focusing on water safety and healthy living.

But there are things Michael Phelps cannot do

The six-foot-four-inches tall Michael Phelps has an even bigger arm span of 6.66 feet which gives him a biological advantage in the pool. Unfortunately, the absolute control of his body while swimming doesn’t translate well onto the dance floor. In 2016, after Phelps made his final run at the Rio Olympics, he held a huge wedding.

His closest friends talked to Access Hollywood and divulged some insider information on the swimming champion. When the reporter asked his group of buddies if Phelps has some killer dance moves, the answer came immediately. In two words, they responded, “Next question.” Killer dance moves? “Gosh, no,” one of them said.

As much space as the decorated athlete takes in the pool, he disappears right off the dance floor when the opportunity arises. In his own words, “I don’t dance… I sit and watch everybody dance.” However, with a big wedding coming up, he knew he wouldn’t have much choice in the matter.

“But I know at the wedding I’ll have to dance,” he stated. The swimmer actually tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Paradise Valley, Arizona, in June, about a month after their first son, Boomer, was born. But after the Olympics concluded in August, they had a second, beachside wedding in Mexico a few months later.

Phelps’ family brightened up his world

The swimming G.O.A.T.’s friends also revealed that ever since his engagement with Nicole and the introduction of Boomer in their lives, Michael Phelps brightened up. He swaps stories of his newfound fatherhood with his buddies, and with the pressure of competition off his back, he has found some peace.

“Happy, focused, relaxed. All of the above,” one of his friends said. “It translates across the board,” another chipped in. And though the details of the wedding were top secret, they divulged some information on the bachelor party plans.

“It’s going to be a quiet night in Arizona,” they said. “A lot of board games. It’ll be good.” Currently, Phelps lives in Arizona with his wife and three kids, Boomer, Beckett, and Maverick. The retired Olympian has pivoted to more entrepreneurial and philanthropic roles since he quit his day job.
