Obama complimented Phelps while listing his countless achievements. But before ending his speech, the President took a hilarious dig at Phelps by mimicking his expression. Michael took the trip to the White House after winning five gold and one silver medal in Rio Olympics 2016.

Barack Obama’s ‘Michael Phelps’ expression

The champions of the US Olympics and Paralympics reached there to celebrate their record-breaking history. Originally, the reception stage was built outdoors, but everything shifted inside as the rain started pouring.

Obama gave an appreciation speech for all the champions. While talking about Phelps, the President stated that Michael made the nation proud by achieving many milestones. In addition, he explained how Phelps broke the bizarre 2000-year-old record of winning the most individual Olympic titles.

He also added, “If they got to go back to the Greeks. That’s an impressive record.” At last, before changing the subject, Barack mimicked Michael’s face and stated, “So I could talk about this forever, but if I keep on going longer, I’m gonna get, like, ‘Phelps face’ from you guys. You’re gonna be hungry. You want to get out of here.”

The image of Obama doing Phelps’ reaction caught lots of attention on social media. However, this was not the first time Phelps was invited to the White House. Before this, Michelle invited him to raise awareness regarding obesity and the benefits of healthy food for kids.

Apart from being an Olympic champion, Phelps is also known for his impeccable physical health. The 28-time Olympic gold medalist once came forward with former first lady Michelle Obama for an exemplary cause. In 2014, they launched a campaign of $41 million with the partnership of Subway and Disney. They also made a catchy slogan, “Playtime Powered By Veggies.”

For the benefit of this campaign, Subway introduced apple slices and low-fat milk to their menu and meals. In addition, they replaced soda with normal mineral water.
