5 YO Twins Found Dead After Strange ‘Ball’ Incident in Swimming Pool

The recurring tragedies of swimming accidents have gripped the United States in a constant state of shock and grief. Although every accident is a cause for deep mourning when the victims happen to be innocent kids, the sorrow becomes more profound. In the latest episode of the series of swimming accidents, a pair of siblings have lost their lives in the pool.

The gut-wrenching news comes out of Cordova in Lapu City where two five-year-old twin boys drowned on November 26. The tragic incident could have been avoided if necessary safety measures were in place. Here’s what happened.

5-year-old twins drown in swimming pool due to lack of safety measures

The two boys were playing beside a pool in Barangay Gabi in Cordova Town. This was already a recipe for disaster. However, the risks were heightened in the absence of a lifeguard on duty. The boys were playing with a ball which fell into the swimming pool. As the two brothers went to retrieve the ball, they fell into the pool as well. According to CDN the incident occurred in the afternoon when no one was present by the pool. When the poor boys were noticed by someone, it was already too late.

The bystander called for help as chaos ensued. The rescue personnel were alerted rushed to the scene and helped the victims’ mother bring her boys out of the pool. They were unresponsive to the resuscitation efforts and needed immediate medical attention. An ambulance from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office arrived on the scene and took the boys to the ARC Hospital in Barangay Agus. In the meantime, the police have not been idle and have begun looking into the matter.

Authorities investigate tragic drowning incident

The chief of Cordova Police Station, Major Michael Gingoyon took charge of the investigation. When he arrived on the scene, the twins were already on dry land. The victims were Patrick Sarmiento and Dexson. He went through the adjoining areas of the swimming pool with a tooth comb to eliminate all probable causes. Thereafter, the investigator deduced that there was no foul play.

It was an unfortunate incident and has shaken the whole community. Nevertheless, they have come forward with support and stood by the grieving mother. The death of the twins will remain as a sore topic in the memory of the little community.
