Drowning is such a probable incident while swimming that it can turn your picnic day into a long grief. In the US drowning is one of the most recorded accidents and most New York beaches have a higher rate of drowning. Recently in New York, two drowning cases were brought to the attention in different swimming spots. One in Jacob Riis Park on the Rockaway Peninsula, and another in the southwestern section of New York, Coney Island.
On 28th July, a 19-year-old, Amadou Thiam drowned while swimming in Jacob Riis Park and went missing. Two hours later, he recovered but unfortunately died at the hospital. Apart from that, in the Coney Island case, a 15-year-old boy went missing on Thursday while swimming with his brother and he was not resurfaced. After a potential search for days, his body was finally recovered but the grief did not end.?

On Thursday, a 15-year-old boy identified as Markel Aritis was playing on the beach and enjoying the sunshine with his 16-year-old brother. According to the Recreation Department of New York, the teens were playing in the prohibited area of the sea. When a wave came in, the brothers started to panic and were struggling to swim before they were swept under.
Some people eyewitnessed this horrific situation and told CBS News, New York, that they warned the kids but they did not listen and kept playing. Suddenly the witnesses heard them scream and panic in the water, all the witnesses including a retired firefighter hopped in and rescued the 16-year-old boy but rescuers were unable to find the younger brother.?
A member of FDNY told the People, that they went again in the water to find the boy but lost contact with him. By 3:30 pm, a rescue team was called off for the search, and by Friday, the NYPD Harbour Unit also arrived at the scene but could not find the boy until Saturday night. On Saturday night, the teen?s body was pulled from the sea and the boy finally rests in peace. The news was shared on Sunday morning by the council members through Twitter.?

The announcement of the body recovery?
Two council members, Ari Kagan, and Justin Brannon confirmed the boy?s native as the Bronx who was visiting Coney Island to meet family and friends. On July 30, Brannon publicly announced the recovered body of the teen saying,? ?The body of the 15-year-old boy who went missing swimming in Coney Island has been recovered. While their grief won’t end, I hope this will bring the family a modicum of closure.?

The NYPD Department of Parks and Recreation also sent their condolences to the family and expressed their deep grief. As per CBS News, the medical reports of the boy are not announced yet. The member of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance has stated that downing cases have rapidly increased and the cases also vary from age to age by the area. And mostly teens are reported in such prohibited swimming areas. According to CBS and other authorities, these sorts of unfortunate events can be prevented if necessary precautions are taken. The devastated family is now mourning the loss of their young child who bid his goodbye from the world a little too early.?
