

As the summer sun brightens the shores, attracting visitors from all corners of America, the beaches of Indiana have become a hub of laughter, happiness, and adventure. Families and friends come together to enjoy the waters and warm sands. However, amidst this atmosphere, there is a reality.
The strong currents along the Indiana shoreline can be dangerous. In June, tragedy struck when an 18-year-old boy lost his life while swimming with his cousin in Lake Michigan. Another heartbreaking incident occurred last week when a young beachgoer was swept away by powerful currents at Gary Beach in Indiana. These saddening moments serve as a reminder of nature’s power and the need for safety awareness when people embrace the beach’s beauty.

A teen drowns while swimming at Gary Beach
Last weekend, an 18-year-old boy named Rayan Mohammed drowned in Lake Michigan. According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law enforcement the 18-year-old, who was last seen by a local taking a dip in the Gary beach around 6 p.m., went missing afterward. Amid this on Sunday afternoon, the Garry police, along with dive teams on boats and helicopters, started a search for Mohammed on the Indiana shoreline. However, the investigation was stopped due to the huge winds from the north causing waves to swell to dangerous heights.
Lastly, at 6 p.m., the Police recovered the body of the boy from the shoreline. The 18-year-old was found at Newton Street and Oak Avenue and unfortunately declared dead at the scene. The County police officer identified the victim as Rayan Mohammed, who lived in Bartlett, a village located at the western borders of Illinois.

Sadly, this is not the first swimmer to become a victim of the Michigan waters. In June, another 18-year-old drowned in Lake Michigan. The boy who was pulled from Lake Michigan along with a 14-year-old girl lost his life after reaching the hospital.

The horror at Michigan Lake continues
Two months back, an 18-year-old boy named Pedro drowned while swimming with his cousin Anna in Lake Michigan. A local beachgoer located the 14-year-old, Anna, and pulled her out of the lake; while Pedro could not be located for the next 20 minutes. At the last round 6 p.m., the 18-year-old was also found by the Indiana Country and immediately rushed to the hospital by the emergency crew. Unfortunately, Pedro was declared dead at the hospital. While, according to the news, his cousin Anna was “Doing fine,”

The Michigan Lake is known for its huge winds from the north that can give the waves a huge rise, creating dangerous currents. Till now, more than 6 deaths have occurred at this infamous lake. And unfortunately, one more young soul lost his life to these brutal currents. Hopefully, the authorities will take preventive measures to avoid such accidents in the future.
