Three members of the Oakdale family were reported missing on Monday after going underwater in Vermillion near the mouth in Mississippi. The news thoroughly spread worldwide, and the sports world was devastated after hearing this. The heartbreaking incident occurred when a family of four members gathered on Diamond Island. One man and two women, including a 17-year-old girl, were swimming at three feet deep. But they started panicking and struggling when they were flown away to 9 feet deep water. And the other man was fishing on the coastline.
When the three started to struggle in-depth, the man hopped into the water to save them. And he dragged his daughter out of the water, but then he, including the other two, went missing and was not resurfaced. The bodies were finally recovered by the search team on Wednesday. They were found at the Red Wing City in Goodhue County, Minnesota.?

The Goodhue County Sheriff?s office stated that they received their first call regarding the missing at about 7:35 pm on Monday. the responder on call stated how a man had fallen overboard to the Vermillion River, where it meets Mississippi. According to CBS News Minnesota, the County Patrol, with other search agencies, sprinted to the scene, but there was no luck, and they had to cease the search due to severe weather and heavy rain. A dive team also assisted in searching until the weather turned harsh around 8:30 pm, and hence, they were obliged to call off the search.
Later a crew of divers with boats, sonar, and other necessary equipment were sent to the scene for search. The search continued till Tuesday. Major Mike Johnson said, ?They’re searching a large area; there’s extreme heat. There’s been inclement weather that has just made the search very difficult.” He later added, “However, all of the parties out there working – law enforcement and volunteers – keep working through and doing the best they can.”
Despite the massive search efforts, the three were unfortunately found dead. Two of the bodies were recovered at 6:30 am, and the other one was found at 7:05 am on Wednesday. However, they all were found in the search area. The Red Cross had officially advised the swimmers to take necessary precautions while swimming.

The Red Cross agency advises not to jump in the water
Even after the great effort put in by six different responding agencies assisting search, the bodies could not be resurfaced at the time. None of the swimmers were experienced, and they were all without life jackets; these are the key reasons for drowning. After this devastating accident, the Red Cross stated, ?Reach or throw, don’t go,? advising to not jump into the water without life jackets or floating objects. These necessary pieces of equipment keep accidents away, and they are mandatory if one is not a pro swimmer.

According to CBS News, the victims’ names will soon be released by The Southern Minnesota medical examination. The sheriff?s office also stated that an angler went overboard, and two others jumped in after the three drowning Oakdale family members. Updates are yet to be reported.?
