The 2024 NCAA D1 Swimming Championships have been nothing short of riveting. From Luke Hobson to Gretchen Walsh, all swimmers dished out sensational performances, making fans dizzy with eye-popping speeds. On the other hand, ASU’s Leon Marchand went on to grab eight overall titles in the men’s events. However, as a recap for the championship surfaced in the cyber world, fans couldn’t hide their disappointment as several crucial moments seem to have been left out.
While fans find themselves in an awkward position as they speculate Marchand’s possible move to Texas following the iconic coach Bob Bowman’s exit from the Sun Devils program, another heartbreaking moment is now prompting swimming connoisseurs to express their dissatisfaction.

Bob Bowman’s star disciple left fans in awe after setting several new records in Indianapolis over the last weekend. Marchand took home gold medals in both the 200m breaststroke and 500 free events, while also breaking the existing NCAA and US Open records along the way. But as the latest YouTube upload by the official NCAA Championships account went live, the omission of several of his sensational performances was spotted.
Titled “2024 NCAA DI men’s swimming & diving championship“, the video basks in the glory of many events like Marchand’s 200 breast as well as the Sun Devils’ thrilling display of skills in the 400 free relay race. However, Leon’s 500 free or his impeccable swim in the 800 free relay have both been left out. The ASU team finished second in the 200 medley relay, which the YouTube video contains, as well as his first-place finisher in the 400 IM.
And yet, Marchand’s performance in the 400 medley relay, which recorded his fastest split ever, has been mysteriously left out. While the Frenchman didn’t hold back at the NCAA Championships, seeing him overlooked in such a manner has the fans flummoxed.
Fans vent their disapproval
After the video was uploaded on YouTube, fans across social media couldn’t believe their eyes as they couldn’t find Marchand’s jaw-dropping performances in it. George Young thinks this is precisely what hinders the NCAA from developing a meaningful relationship with the fans. “Difficult to grow fan interaction when the sponsoring organization (yes, you @NCAA) can’t figure it out.“, reads his comment.

Another fan seems to be fuming with the omissions and lashed out saying:
This is absolute BS. Completely missing events. No 800 FR, 500 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Bk, or 200 Fly.
No relay heats. Just recaps of 4Med & mile.
No B-finals at all.
ESPN butchered coverage. NCAA outputs garbage, incomplete footage. Y’all are so lazy you don’t even pretend to try. pic.twitter.com/SogOVrAA3O

One fan expressed his desire to watch the mile race which he thinks is unknown to many.
I would love to watch the mile. It’s a fascinating race that I don’t think the general public knows about.

Jeb thinks there should have been a different approach altogether.
Who cares about a recap? Just put the full race videos on YouTube

“It’s especially baffling” for David since for him, the NCAA otherwise does a pretty decent job in most cases.
It’s especially baffling because they were REALLY good about uploading everything last year? For both men and women they had most races published that same night, SOMETIMES it would be the next morning but that’s it.
