Schwarzenegger is a seven-time Mr. Olympia while Phelps won 28 Olympic gold medals. The workout routines of both these legends were incredible as the calorie intake sets the pace for their future success. Hence, Arnold and Phelps had a diet that became a catalyst for their future success. But, who had a greater calorie intake?

The calorie intake of Arnold Schwarzenegger

As a bodybuilder who required high levels of protein to develop muscles, Schwarzenegger at his peak had 3825 calories per day. In his prime, he ate five to six meals a day while having specific workout sessions. Protein shakes were also a part of his staple diet. Likewise, he worked out for five hours a day, six times a week. With all that calorie intake, his unique workout sessions helped him to gain a chiseled physique for ages.

His diet included a variety of dishes. In the morning, he ate a bowl of cereal, 2 slices of toast, 2 tsp butter, 1 cup of orange juice, two strips of bacon, and coffee, plain and black. For lunch, he enjoyed a 6-inch sub with 4 oz sliced turkey, 2 oz cheese, 2 tbsp mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato. In addition, he had a bag of potato chips and water.

10000 calories! That’s what Michael Phelps had during his prime. There is a difference of 6173 calories; Phelps ate triple the time Schwarzenegger did. Swimming requires a lot of energy as carbs and proteins are energy packs. The legendary swimmer won 23 Olympic gold medals and his food diet partially made a difference in that.

For breakfast, he had three fried egg sandwiches, with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, fried onions, and mayonnaise, followed by three chocolate-chip pancakes. He followed that with a five-egg omelet, three sugar-coated slices of French toast, a bowl of grits, and two cups of coffee. As for lunch, he had a half-kilogram of pasta, two large ham and cheese sandwiches on white bread with mayonnaise, and energy drinks for refueling himself.
