In a 2020 interview, Katie Ledecky described a rare encounter with the NBA legend LeBron James. Talking about the incident, Ledecky disclosed how Team USA congregated by the apartment building of the swimmers in the Olympic village. Ledecky was also there at that time, to participate in the 2012 Olympics in swimming. Surprisingly, basketball players including LeBron James had also arrived at this congregation.?

The reason for this was that while swimming was an individual sport, the swimmers congregated together as a team which he wanted his basketball players to see.?

Ledecky mentioned that basketball players would come to watch her at her races as well. In the 2012 summer Olympics, Ledecky won a gold medal in the 800-metre freestyle category. Creating history at that time, Ledecky was just 15 years old, and not the only time she stunned fans with her performance in swimming. In October 2022, Ledecky broke a world record, firmly engraving her legacy in swimming.?

Ledecky smashed the earlier world record set by Sarah Wellbrock in the FINA World Cup in 2022. The swimming champion had competed in the 1500 m in the freestyle category. Ledecky finished her race in this category at 15:08:24. This was almost ten seconds lesser than the earlier record where Brock finished the race at 15:18:01. Her fantastic performance proves that she is among the finest swimmers; of the likes of Michael Phelps and Caeleb Dressel.?
