She shared that she went through surgery in September 2023 to remove a large growth found on one of her ovaries. She expressed, “I was actually having my reproductive organ worked on to remove something that could have potentially put me at risk of not being able to have children”. More than her health, she was also worried about her swimming ability for the Olympics.

Ariarne Titmus was scared of whether if this issue had been scanned in February or March, her performance for the Paris Olympics would have been jeopardized. Expressing gratitude, she said, “I’m so grateful that we picked it up when we did”. Titmus first wanted to keep it private, but she opened up about this issue for a very social and thoughtful reason.

The Australian household name of swimming originally wanted to keep this illness private. However, she expressed that it was hard to do so when one was a two-time Olympic Champion. She decided to just put out her story in the open so that she could use this opportunity to create conversations for the ones going through the same problem.

The rehab was extremely difficult for her as her swimming instincts made her ponder continuously about her performances. She expressed, “One part of me was like I want to go back into it, and I want to rush to go back, but another part of me was, no, my health is the most important thing”. This phase of her life has made her realize how much she loves swimming, and it is the most important part of her life.
