As Caeleb Dressel is the fastest freestyle swimmer in the world, there is another man who is just stunning. The incredible Adam Peaty is arguably the greatest breaststroke swimmer in the world. However, the incredible Peaty will miss the 19th Fina World Championships in Hungary. The three-time Olympic gold medalist suffered a foot injury that will see him miss the competition.

This comes as a big blow to Britain’s medal hopes at the Championships. Peaty won back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the last two Olympics and is one of the best swimmers in the world. Thus, he would be a huge loss for the World Championships.

Adam Peaty will miss Swimming World Championships

The brilliant swimmer suffered a foot fracture while training in Tenerife. Aiming to become a ‘quadruple double’ champion, this would be a devastating loss to his medal hopes. Peaty won the 50m and 100-meters breaststroke competitions in 2015, 2017, and 2019. He shared a post on Twitter, stating his injury.

In a freak accident, he suffered a foot fracture while training in the gym. With his rest time up to six weeks, it will mean his World Championships dream is over. Although it is a devastating loss, he spoke about getting injured for the first time and it is a new experience for him. With an able support system, he hopes to come back with a bang.

“I won’t compromise my recovery and I will use this time to reflect on what the sport means to me and what it feels like to watch someone else win a race I should be in – it’s not going to be easy. I will be back in the pool as soon as I can be, with my focus now on recovering and building up my strength ahead of the Commonwealth Games this summer,” said Peaty.

Swimmer sets sights on the future

Looking at the recovery, Peaty is taking time to focus on his recovery. Now, he focuses on the Commonwealth Games, hoping to get back to full fitness. He thanked the Tenerife Top Training management team for helping him to reach the hospital as soon as possible.

He is going to spend time with his family as Peaty will look to recover for the future. Missing him at the 2019 Swimming World Championships will be a huge loss for the swimming fraternity. He is one of the best swimmers in the world and having him not appear is disappointing.
