Hawaiian surfing icon John John Florence recently listed his beautiful and marvelous boat, ‘Vela’ on sale. The surfer is known for heading out into the waves with his surfboard from a very young age, thanks to his mother, Alex. Being a surfer herself, Alex introduced her kids, John, Nathan, and Ivan, to the ocean atop a surfboard almost as soon as they took their first steps. Today, the Florence brothers are among the most well-known surfers to grace the sport.
John and his brothers have had countless adventures on his gorgeous gunboat and are now ready to bid farewell to it. Originally owned by one of the world’s most influential snowboarders, Travis Rice, who had named it ‘Falcor,’ Vela has been lifted by the ace surfer at a price of $1,349,000.

The 48-foot catamaran gunboat has been listed on YachtHub.com for $1,349,000. The boat is currently docked at the magnificent shores of New Zealand and has received a 100% refurbishment to sail in full glory on her next adventure. “Vela” has spent most of her life traveling to some of the world’s most stunning destinations with some of the world’s best watermen and explorers, thanks to the gunboat’s exclusive concentration on quality and durability.
The Gunboat 48 offers a remarkable combination between performance and comfort on a performance catamaran under 50 feet long. The saloon room flows seamlessly into the hulls and forwards into the front cockpit and sail handling area, leaving the aft cockpit space open and free for socializing and watching the world around slowly phase away.

He also planned to voyage from Hawaii to Teahupo’o on Vela to go for WSL’s Tahiti Pro. However, a change of plans was made because of his knee injury, and the crew anchored at Fiji instead.
