Starting on 3rd March 2023, the Noosa Festival of Surfing in Australia will feature a special surfing contest for dogs. This is the 11th year this hugely popular competition will be held. This festival on Noosa Heads Main Beach will continue till 12th March 2023.

The dogs surfing championship will be held at First Point, Noosa. A tradition since 2012, the popularity of this event has increased over the years. As per reports, this is the only surfing championship for dogs in Australia. So what can we expect in this year’s dog surfing championship?

The competition will take place on 4th March 2023 at 3 pm. Touted as the “world’s biggest” dog surfing competition, dogs will compete in teams with their human partners to win the ‘Best Wave’ prize. Two pet care brands, Vetshop Australia and Simprica Trio have also collaborated for this championship. Viewers are advised to be there early to secure good spots on the beach. 

Prizes in this competition will be given based on the dogs’ skills and the synchronization between the dog and their human. The entertainment quotient provided by the dogs will also be considered a factor while determining the winner of the competition. Recently, dog surfing has become a trend that has gained huge importance. Proof of this trend can be seen in a 13-year-old dog’s amazing video to which fans couldn’t resist reacting.

This video of a 13-year-old Corgi was shared on the Facebook page Woof Woof on 26th February 2023. According to this video, this dog named Jojo had been surfing since the age of 7. 

The video displays the Corgi surfing on the waves on a blue surfboard. Donning a blue life jacket and wearing goggles, Jojo looks adorable on the beach. Further, the video also states, “He knows how to rip the waves and he loves surfing with his dog buddies.” Reacting to this video, fans called Jojo adorable, motivating him to surf.
