After finishing off the 32nd WSL round of the event at the Huntington Pier, on Friday the women’s surfing championship entered its 16th round as the top-tier surfers all around the world battled in a single set to earn their ticket to the finals. And on Saturday, the 17-year-old surfing prodigy, after a heated battle in the quarterfinals, sealed her way toward the WSL finals.
The SuperGirl Pro winner surfer, Sawyer Lindblad, showed some extremely staunch moves, including riding the wave of the day on the Huntington pier to get her Wallex Open surfing final ticket. The San Clemente surfer’s nearly perfect score has gone viral on social media.
Sawyer Lindblad secures her name in the US Open surfing quarterfinals

On day 8 of the event, 17-year-old Sawyer Lindblad, with almost a perfect score, reached the finals of the Wallex US Open. The surfer, in her fourth round of the battle, secured a 9:00 on the wave and sealed her win. Amid this staunch performance, the 17-year-old was given the wave of the day title. The WSL also posted an achievement poster and a video of her performance on Instagram with the Caption “The Wave of the Day Goes to Sawyer Lindblad.”

In the video, the 17-year-old with extraordinary control of her surfboard dominated the barrel by surfing the opening of the swell. The surfer after her staunch move maintained her balance on the board and did a few more quick snaps on the swell before finishing off her round. The 17-year-old, who will now be participating in the finals on August 6, secured her win after defeating Brazilian surfer Luana Silva. In the half-hour battle, the athlete dropped her board after her 6th round and won the event with 15.83 points.

Sawyer Lindblad’s staunch performance in the quarterfinals
The match started with Lindblad tackling the barrel effortlessly and scoring a 6.83. Interestingly, the Brazilian surfer also showed striking moves on the water with a 5.50 score. Following this, in the second round, Lindblad scored a 3.83 while Luana Silva posted a 0.30, changing the dynamics of the match. In the third round, Lindblad could only make 0.40 on the water. But not able to fully take advantage of the low stats, Silva snatched a 3.80 on the pier. And finally, in the fourth round, Sawyer Lindblad secured her ticket for the finals by striking an almost perfect 9:00, while Luana in the fourth round dropped the score to the lowest of the game, 0.27.

After scoring a 4.67 in her 6th round and with a total of 15.83 points, Lindblad dropped her board, while Silva played all 7 rounds but had to settle for an 11.67. And after finishing off the 13-wave round, The Brazilian surfer was disqualified from the event after taking 5th place in the championship.
