Most surfers simply think of making it big in the roiling waves of the summery ocean. Then there are others. Surfing in the ocean just does not cut it for them so they choose other adventurous venues to fulfill their surfing requirements. A glacier, however, would be the most unexpected of places where one would go to surf.
Surfing, in the first instance, is usually associated with warm waters spread under the glittering sun. While there are some famous cold-water destinations where surfers might go, a full-fledged glacier with frozen water still seems to be a surfing venue that would be at the bottom of the list. However, this is surely not true for Ben Gravy.

In the description of the YouTube video, Gravy wrote, “The stoke is on in Alaska! It’s been a dream of mine to go glacier surfing since I was a kid & to finally live out the experience is beyond my wildest expectations of what I ever thought I could accomplish on this plane of reality.” No doubt, the visions of Alaska that were shown in the video were truly magnificent. In the description, Grave added, “Standing in front of a 600ft tall calving glacier in the heart of Alaska as the ice drops & creates a tsunami wave below is quite the experience! FOR THE DREAM!!! “
Gravy and his partner navigated their boat through the semi-frozen waters near the glacier. As they approached the behemoth, it could be seen that parts of the glacier were breaking off and forming waves in the water. Upon this discovery, Ben Gravy donned his suit, took his surfboard, and jumped off the boat. He paddled through the water and finally reached in tandem with a newly formed wave. Gravy then proceeded to ride the wave to glory. Not only did he get to live his dream, he also met the local wildlife, and saw some otters.
