Nevertheless, people got inspired to take up new hobbies that they always wanted to pursue but never had the time to. Likewise, an Australian Plymouth Rock chicken also embraced a new hobby during the pandemic and is now chasing waves and turning heads by flaunting her body-surfing skills.

The Australian chicken, Mrs. Chook recently made a splash in the surfing fraternity by flaunting her off-the-charts paddling flair. Through her body-surfing finesse, Mrs. Chook proclaimed that hens are not just into a habit of making ‘cock-a-doodle-do’ noises in the morning. They can also perform top-notch surfing prompts if trained diligently. 

Australian Chicken causes a stir in the surfing community by trouncing waves on her surfboard

As per the report of 9 News, Mrs. Chook recently took the center of the spotlight by catching five waves every day at Victoria’s Ocean Grove beach in Australia. Describing Mrs. Chook’s fascination with surfing, the chicken’s owner, Ms. Elaine Janes stated, “You cannot make a chook like the water, particularly the ocean, but this one has a passion”.

Ms. Janes added, “She has a passion of being in the water and she has a passion for body surfing. Just have a look at her face, it is pure contentment, happiness, joy”. Interestingly, the water-loving chook quickly earned a prominent reputation among the locals and other beachgoers through her incredible surfing spree. But how did the chicken learn to surf?

Ms. Janes further shared the training regimen that Mrs. Chook underwent for learning commendable paddling skills. Explaining her approach to training the chicken, the owner conceded, “You don’t rush them out there and throw them in”. Adding details to her approach, Ms, Janes said, “You just take them out there for little walks in the water…And the next time you might go a little bit further a little slow introduction”. Not just that, after the paddling session, Ms. Janes’ feathered friend gets bath therapy just like other swimmers and surfers.

Following her wave chasing bout, Mrs. Chook gets treated to a shower and then tended with a warm towel for her dampened ruffles. More so, sometimes, the chicken even gets a blow dry in order to make sure her feathers are not unkempt. Nonetheless, the Plymouth Rock chicken’s surfing flair reached millions through her TikTok features and videos.
