Further, the post updated fans of Phillips’s unhappy plight. “Unluckily the poor hardworking self-employed builder is facing a long recovery and has got a baby due in 6 weeks! Clearly, this is going to have a massive impact on his earning ability to support his family.”
The Welsh Federation then stated that it was attempting to raise 2000 Euros to help Phillips through his tough time. With this, the federation also asked fans to contribute some money, saying it would “make a world of difference” to Phillips and his family. Reacting to this injury, a fan posted, “Glad he’s on the mend.” This was not the only time a surfer has been injured while surfing. Like Phillips, popular surfer Nathan Florence also suffered a massive injury while surfing. However, unlike Phillips, Florence broke his back.
Nathan Florence updates fans on his terrible injury in a recent Youtube video
In this Youtube video uploaded on 14th February 2023, Florence stated how he had desired to attempt a 25-foot barrel for a long time. (Surfing in barrels refers to surfing inside the waves where the wave’s top is above the surfer.) Jumping when he thought it was the right moment, Nathan Florence had a bad fall.
Describing his terrible fall, Florence stated, “And I was hunched forward with my vest in my hand when I impacted, and I impacted, and as soon I impacted, it felt like I landed on my back from my 15-foot fall on straight cement and it went like boom, in my back like an explosion like crack, right in the center of my back.” With this, Florence also posted an update on this injury with fans where he told fans that he would have to rest for 6 weeks for the bone to heal. Further, Florence expressed gratitude that no surgery was needed to heal the injury.
