The world of surfing has evolved with the times. Traditional deep-sea surfing experienced a seismic shift in 2015 when “The Surf Ranch“ opened. This artificial wave project was the brainchild of the iconic Kelly Slater and his Kelly Slater Wave Company (KSWC), founded in 2007. Kelly admitted, “I’ve been dreaming about this wave my whole life”.
Fast forward to 2023, and Kelly Slater again gifted the world of surfing with another epic Wave Pool in Arabian Jewel Abu Dhabi. After the major success and waves, it made in the surfing world, another $94 million surfing project might soon grab the spotlight as a sporting retreat.
Another surfing wonder is set to emerge

According to Manchester Wire, Trafford City is set to have a new inland surf park, the first of its kind in the North of England. Peel Waters has teamed up with Tartan Leisure to build Edinburgh Lost Shore Surf Resort. The $94 million surfing project will use “Powered by Wavegarden“, the leading technology for creating waves for surfing.
This technology can produce up to 1000 waves every hour, and they can vary in intensity. Nearly 90 people can surf together at one time as well. According to the reports, the park will be easily accessible to the community, just a short walk from the bus or tram stops, and it is located near Trafford Palazzo and the upcoming Therme Manchester site. This exciting news emerges just as Kelly Slater’s Abu Dhabi Wave Pool commands the surfing world’s attention.

Kelly Slater brings about Surf Abu Dhabi
Modon Properties and Kelly Slater Wave Company (KSWC) partnered together to bring Surf Abu Dhabi. This facility is one-of-a-kind and the largest wave pool in the world. Speaking of the dream project, Slater said, “Surfing reaches people in all corners of the globe, and I’m always surprised at who gravitates toward this world. Having a KSWC wave in Abu Dhabi is something I’ve never dreamt would happen, but here it is. Unbelievable.”

Since its announcement, an array of the sport’s favorites have graced the venue to try out their moves on the epic rides, from Dylan Graves to Marvel’s Thor- Chris Hemsworth. The inauguration is set for sometime in 2024, and A-listers Ramzi Boukhiam, Filipe Toledo, Caroline Marks, and Stephanie Gilmore are set to grace the unveiling of this massive project.
