“Stupidest Thing I’ve Ever Done”: Surfer Nearly Vanishes After Attempting to Ride Dangerous River Breach

Hawaiian pro, Jamie O’Brien’s surfing career is unique to those of his generation. He mostly derived his stardom from his YouTube channel with an 887k fanbase. The athlete regularly posts thrilling videos of him pulling insane stunts either on waves or simply anything that can be surfed upon. He literally attempts to conquer the impossible. Similarly, a recent clip surfaced on the platform that featured O’Brien trying to ride the waves of an overflowing river. 

The video was posted on Sunday and is going viral on the internet. An insane river breach seemed like a good opportunity for the surfer to showcase his finesse. However, after moments of successful riding, he almost got wiped out. Here’s what it displayed.

As per the YouTube video, the 39-year-old pro suddenly popped up from the edge of the video frame and was seen amazingly surfing a mighty river wave. The sandy water ripples seemed unliked those of a blue sea or ocean. However, O’Brien’s flair remained unhindered. Yet moments later, he lost the balance of his surfboard and nearly vanished into the fiercely flowing water. “Probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever done trying to attempt to ride this massive river wave!” he wrote in the video description. 

The brief snippet was captured by the onlookers, who kept cheering and hooting for the former Pipeline Masters winner. It was an extraordinary yet life-threatening stunt he pulled. Similarly, getting on with his unconventional escapades, he once surfed his way through a steep sewer drain.
