Jack Robinson, the child surfing prodigy from Australia, is one of the most decorated surfers out there and the current World #2 in surfing. Lately, though, things have not been going so well for him. Today, Robinson announced bad news on his social media. During his heat at the Bells this year, Robbo, as he is known amongst his fans, got a knee injury during the Rip Curl Pro event.

The injury happened after the 4-time CT winner Robinson’s upset by the Wildcard Xavier Huxtable at Bells in the round of 32. After getting injured, Robinson hobbled up to the beach and his left knee did not look good. Now, he took to his Instagram to announce a piece of news that has left his fans and the surfing community devastated.

Unfortunately, Robinson will not be defending his Margaret River CT title. Robinson shared a picture from his last Margaret River win, and let the surfing community know through his post that due to his knee injury, he will not be competing in the event any longer. In the caption, he said, “During my heat at Bells, I ended up injuring my meniscus (cartilage in my knee). After reviewing with a few specialists, and discussions with my team, I’ll be pulling out of the Margaret River Pro.”

While Jack Robinson revealed that this is medically a necessary decision, he was still not thrilled about the fact that he will not be able to participate in the event. He added, “As you all know, Margs is my home break, and I’m always looking forward to being in @westernaustralia. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete at Margs, but it’s what’s best for my recovery and long term goals.” After getting injured, Robinson then walked up to the beach and pointed to his left knee, and it did not look good.

I’m confident I’ll be back for the next event. It’s a long year and we are just starting! Thanks for all your support! ❤️”. His fans instantly started sending him best wishes.
