The Hawaiian surfing prodigy, Bethany Hamilton, holds a prominent status in the world of surfing. While the world knows her as a shark attack survivor, the surfing realm recognizes her as a staunch surfer who defied all odds and reached the pinnacle of glory. Now, to share the tale of her passion for her beloved oceanic arena with her fandom, the surfer penned her wisdom in her books. The latest creation of Hamilton came in 2022, which instills a message of fortitude in the young generation of surfers.
In October 2022, the Hawaiian surfer published her tenth book named Surfing Past Fear. Interestingly, it is Hamilton’s second children’s book. It is filled with visual animations and a series of illustrations. Nonetheless, the book is designed exclusively for young surfing enthusiasts, and it illustrates a valuable surfing counsel by Hamilton to help the young generation in the long run.

Recently, the 33-year-old took to her Facebook handle to share a heartfelt note to encourage children to overcome their fear. Posting a photo of herself with her book in her hand, Hamilton captioned, “If you’re looking for a way to start meaningful conversations with your children check out my “Surfing Past Fear” book!!!”.
She gave a reference to 2 Timothy verse 1:7 from the King James version of the Bible and penned, “It’s a rad way to remind our children they can overcome their fears and that we haven’t been given a spirit of fear!”. She then concluded her message by wishing her fandom “Happy Easter week yawl!”.
More so, with her latest creation, Hamilton’s aim is to inspire children with a message of hope and overcoming life’s inevitable obstacles. Interestingly, the story in the book revolves around the hardships faced by the 33-year-old and how she found the courage to go back into the water to chase the waves.
A Glimpse of Surfing Past Fear
Hamilton’s book is solely made for the children of age group above four. The book recites the story of Olivia the otter who believes that her broken arm will mark the end of her surfing spree. However, her friends help her face her fears and encourage her to get back to the ocean. More so, the story has been told in parts, with the help of graphics and interesting games. Nonetheless, in total there are two games, Fearing Freaky Food and Cowabunga.

As per the 33-year-old, the gaming activities are meant to teach two lessons: the root of fear is a lack of trust, and the fear of failure can stop our progress in life. The book indeed has some intriguing life lessons to teach kids about courage and fortitude. Interestingly, her first children’s book, Unstoppable Me, depicts a kid-friendly version of her life story and was published in the year 2018.
