The ocean can be completely unpredictable. While most of the time one can enjoy the calm and serene waves, it does not take long for them to turn into vengeful crests and troughs that would be a challenge for even professional surfers to conquer. Some surfing destinations are more dangerous than others and are notorious to cause injuries, and even deaths, in certain cases.
Seaside Cove is one such destination, known for its perilous waters. The area has been responsible for multiple deaths over the years because of the high-risk surf in the area. Once again, tragedy has struck because of this precarious surfing destination.

Both the men were paddling through less than 3-foot waves when the man’s friend saw him facedown in the water and started pulling him to the shore. According to Oregon Rescue, three surfers, including the man’s friend, pulled him to shore. As per the release by Seaside Fire and Rescue, the surfers were trying to revive the man by giving him CPR when the rescuers arrived.
The man was taken to a hospital after the revival attempt. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival, and the rescue operation, unfortunately, went in vain. It seems like even though everyone involved made their best efforts to save a precious life, it was sadly too late and the waves had already claimed his life.

Seaside Cove: a macabre surfing destination
Seaside Cove is located 80 miles northwest of Portland. This is not the first time that the dangerous waves of the Oregan coast have resulted in a surfing, or other ocean-related, tragedy. According to a report by Oregon Coast Beach Connection, back in 2020, Oregon was hit by a turbulent surf. The shore was hit by 35-foot tall swells which were an astonishing sight.

While exciting to look at from afar, these swells proved deadly as a four-year-old boy got caught in them and died. In the same year, a man and his daughter were again swept up by these treacherous cove waves. However, luckily, they were rescued and brought back to the shore. The four-year-old boy, although, could not be saved.
