Surfing is one of the most loved sports. However, the risk of probable accident looms over it. No one seems to know it better than the surfing maestro Kai Lenny at the moment. He is known for his exceptional skills in surfing and the urge to hop on adventures, however this time an adventure did not go well for him. Things took a different turn for Lenny at the very beginning of the year 2024, as he met with a horrific accident.
The incident instantly landed Kai Lenny in the hospital. However, he was safe enough to share the update from the hospital bed. And in that update, he also unveiled the gear that helped him escape almost a certain death.
Kai Lenny nearly confronts death while surfing

Kai Lenny met a bizarre accident as he went surfing at the pipelines, which is one of the most dangerous spots to go for a surfing adventure. After the incident, he is now at the Pali Momi Hospital. However, by god’s grace, for the first time, he wore a helmet, and it saved him from confronting what everyone feared: death. The caption to his Instagram post carried, “First time wearing a helmet at Pipeline and it may have saved my life”

Lenny shared two pictures in which he was seen holding his Red Bull helmet, which was in a crummy condition. It was completely broken from the middle. He further added, “I don’t remember much except that it was during my heat in the #DaHuiBackdoorShootout and the lifeguards sat me down in a chair at the Beach Park.” Lenny also informed, “I have a solid concussion and some bleeding out of my left ear. All should be fine, just need some time”. However, this is not the first time an accident has occurred at the Pipeline.

An unfortunate accident at the Pipelines
Joao Chianca, the Brazilian also faced an unfortunate incident while he was surfing in the dangerous waves of the pipeline. He went through this while he was surfing through a big wave and got hit by it. Chianca faced a severe wipeout and was not in his senses. After getting hit by the wave he was pushed out of it and got his head hit on a solid surface.

He was immediately taken to the hospital for his speedy recovery. Not just him, another Peruvian surfer Joaquin del Castillo also met the same fate as Chianca and Lenny. He faced a major accident and sustained terrible injuries while riding the horrific waves of the Pipeline. He broke his leg and had to go through a hip injury for this mishap.
