It’s no secret that Teahupo’o is considered one of the deadliest surfing spots in the world, and is home to some of the most precarious waves known to humans. Nonetheless, the brutal wipeouts at this little Tahitian island have not just caused ferocious accidents, but also taken away the lives of many of its pursuers. Likewise, recently, the British surfing prodigy, Tom Lowe, came under the crest of Teahupo’o’s waves during his surfing spree.
On 29th April 2023, the 29-year-old visited the Pacific Island of Tahiti to chase the big wave barrels of Teahupo’o. However, a wipeout took the big-wave surfer by surprise and caused some severe injuries. He was then rushed to the hospital with a punctured lung, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. Following this, the Australian surfer, Dom Walsh took to his social media handle to share the news of the catastrophic wipeout and wished Lowe a fast recovery. Now, joining forces with Walsh, many send their prayers to Lowe and send him a treasure trove of get-well-soon wishes.

From Aileens and Mullaghmore to Jaws in Maui and Mavericks in California, Lowe has covered it all. However, during his surfing prompt at Tahiti, things went downhill, and he became the victim of Teahupo’o’s deadly clutches.
In his latest Instagram post, Walsh shared the picture of Lowe from the hospital and called him “one of the most humble, friendly of souls” in the caption. He then urged everyone to, “take 1 minute of your day and go within and send some healing energy to my friend Tom who got a serious injury yesterday surfing Teahupoo and almost lost his life”.
