Where would humanity be if not for the constant support from their closest companions – Dogs? Surfing dogs have often challenged human surfers with their skills, like this iconic moment in 2022. But this one, in particular, is about a Golden Retriever who surfed on the Pacific waters of San Diego shores. After she recently made the “journey to the rainbow bridge”, surfing fans from all over social media are collectively mourning the loss of this brave dog.

Ricochet was a therapy dog who spent her entire life in those waters, supporting those with disabilities. On Friday night when she finally succumbed to her long-fought battle with cancer, news spread quickly far and wide. There was no lack of emotions and support for her from the surfing community a large.

The incredible void that surfing dog Ricochet left behind

In a Facebook post, Fox 5 San Diego wrote, “A therapy dog known for catching waves on the Pacific waters of the San Diego coast has lost her battle is now making ‘the journey to the Rainbow Bridge'”. The expression at the end is associated with beloved pets and their journey into the afterlife. An article attached detailed the various achievements and contributions of Ricochet over her lifetime.

It all started naturally in 2009 when Ricochet jumped on the surfboard of a 14-year-old quadriplegic boy and started braving the waves together. It was a smooth manner of counterbalancing the water current. The Golden Retriever soon got into this job in a dedicated manner.

She had also won several surf dog competitions before dedicating her full time to help those in need. Therefore, the emotions poured over loss are especially overwhelming.

No one isn’t missing her

Upon realizing the impact Ricochet has had over the years, the surfing community realized what major void must she leave behind with her passing. Here’s how they reacted:

Besides all her efforts, Ricochet also starred in the movie “Superpower Dogs”, which also delves into the abilities of the most remarkable dogs in the world. Ricochet was no less than any of them.
