This attack took place at 9 am on 14th July 2012. Hooper described how Ryan and Benjamin were sitting 100 meters offshore, when Ryan noticed a dark shape swimming in the waters and recognized it as a shark. Yelling at Benjamin that they need to reach shore, the two began paddling. Further, Hooper narrated in the TikTok, “All of a sudden, this massive 5-meter-long great white shark comes rocketing to the surface, It almost reaches right next to Ryan, right on his right side, so close that the sprays on its gills spray all over Ryan.”
Afterwards, Hooper recounted how thankfully, the shark didn’t harm Ryan who luckily reached the shore. However, unfortunately, the shark then turned its attention to Benjamin, who was just 15-20 meters away. Seeing the shark approach, Benjamin got his legs out of the water, and put them on his board. Post this, the shark grabbed Benjamin’s body and went underwater. Shocked at the turn of events, Holmes returned to the shore and called the authorities. Sadly, Benjamin Linden’s body was never found. This was not the only dangerous shark attack faced by a surfer.
