Surfing is both dangerous and exciting. And Day 1 of Da Hui Backdoor Shootout is a perfect example of the two extremes of the sport. It has brought with it many exciting, as well as scary moments. Barring a few injuries due to the heat, fans were able to witness some exciting moments. There were many great teams, but Koa Smith’s team was arguably the best.
To give his followers a first-hand experience, Smith treated them with a first-person point of view featuring his legendary teammates. Needless to say, his fans were stoked. This was evident from their comments on the video.
Koa Smith amazes fans with his surfing skills
Smith documented the entire first day of Backdoor Shootout, from his breakfast to his first and then the last heat. He even showed off his guitar-playing skills to his viewers. This peak into his first day of Backdoor Shootout was definitely a treat for his fans. One of the viewers commented, “OMG THAT WAS INSAAAANNNNEEEE.” And it really was insane to see the exact moment when Smith took off on the wave, that too from his POV.

Smith and his team had a great first day. And how could they not? Koa Smith’s team was made up of Grade A surfers, all of them enjoying legendary status in the sport. The team consisting of Kelly Slater, Kai Lenny, Carissa Moore, and Matahi Drollet, and they tore it up on the waves. All of these legends formed the Team A New Earth Project. A New Earth project is a very inspiring initiative with a unique goal in mind.
