On 15 July, an unnamed 21-year-old man survived a shark bite, sustaining a serious injury on his foot. The incident took place around 3 pm when he was surfing in the area when a shark attacked him at New Smyrna Beach. The beach falls under Volusia County and when approached by fox35orlando the Beach Safety told that the man was taken to the hospital and is now okay.

It was further stated that this was the second known shark attack incident so far this year. The Volusia County spokeswoman revealed that there are many sharks on the beach. She further added if “they follow the rules they probably won’t get bit,” however, surfers tend to go further in the depths of water, resulting in mishaps. She also said that it is now snapper season, which means recreational angling for red snapper in specific locations.

Due to many shark attacks, New Smyrna Beach is regarded as one of the “deadliest” beaches. It is urged that everyone be extra cautious during snapper season. In comparison to other US beaches, New Smyrna is known for having roughly twice as many shark attacks. While Florida also holds the record for having the most hurricanes with 37 major ones. There are some terrifying reports of beach accidents in case you were still debating going to the beach.

Paddling out in Florida is a life-threatening choice and there is no doubt about it. Earlier this year, Chuck Luciano’s hand became the target of a shark attack when he fought back to save himself, nearly losing his life. It was not the only account from that day, reportedly one 43-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were bitten. In Luciano’s experience, the shark even came back after an unsuccessful attempt at biting off his hand. Later, he had to be admitted for recovery from the attack at the Halifax Memorial Hospital. In the danger score, the beach has been rated 8.14 out of 10.
