Nicolas Cage looks set to paddle through some waves in the psychological thriller “The Surfer.” Following this, Cage will be seen riding barrels in reel life at Australia’s famous WSL surfing spots Margaret River and Yallingup. Cage is regarded for being a dynamic actor who will be surfing for the first time on screen for this role. After wrapping up the filming of two projects that are slated for an early release, Cage will join the production of the movie. The project has no official release date as of yet.

The Surfer’s story revolves around a protagonist (Cage) who, after making a life for himself in the United States, decides to move back to his coastal homeland in Australia. When he is humiliated in front of his kid by a local gang of surfers, his happiness is dashed. Even though he was hurt, “the Surfer” stays at the beach, and with that hook, the audience is quite intrigued to find out what happens next. The movie’s screenplay is written by Thomas Martin, a writer well known for his work on the British series “Ripper Street” and “Tin Star.”

After wrapping up the filming of two projects that are slated for an early release, Cage will join the production of the movie. His films have brought in more than $6.3 billion in worldwide box office revenue. A motivated bunch of theatre students lined up to share the frame with him when the role demanded supporting actors.

Surfing roles demand with the legendary actor

What do you do when a casting call is held and a highly sought-after actor with a $25 million fortune shows up? High school drama students in the area were invited to audition for parts in the movie, maybe one with Cage as well. The scene had young surfers who hung out with a surf gang that needed young men who would fit the mold, the call-out described. Amy Johnstone, a theatre instructor at Margaret River Senior High School, said, “We had a stack of boys lining up at our office door by recess, these guys are pumped to be in a movie,” moments after the notice was put up.
