Marcilio Browne, also known as Brawzinho, is a professional windsurfer hailing from Fortaleza. Born in 1989, he comes from a family of windsurfing enthusiasts, with his father and uncle being national champions in the sport. Brawzinho began windsurfing at the age of 4 and decided to pursue it professionally at just 12 years old. Combining elements of sailing and surfing, he has dedicated himself to the exhilarating world of windsurfing.

He has achieved remarkable success throughout his career. Browne became a three-time World Champion in windsurfing. He won one in Freestyle in 2007 and two titles in Wave discipline in 2013 and 2022. His dedication and skill have earned him numerous accolades and top rankings in various events and competitions around the world. In a recent video, the surfer experienced a painful wipeout at the 2023 Fiji Surf Pro. It caused concerns have been raised about his safety.

Surfing champ Browne faced a daunting wipeout

During the 2023 Fiji Surf Pro, the 3x World Champion in windsurfing faced a daunting wipeout. In a video posted by Paul van Bellen on June 27, 2023, Browne’s wipeout was captured, accompanied by his own reflections on the experience. He described the heat as “a bit of a strange heat” and acknowledged the impact of the wipeout, saying, “It took me a chunk of time.”Despite his best efforts, Browne recounted his struggle to regain control of the wave, stating, “Then I tried to stay deep but I had a bump bounce on the bottom turn so I lost speed.”

The force of the wave overpowered him, as he expressed, “Then I got eaten by the wave I did not have a chance.” Browne’s determination was evident as he shared his thoughts saying, “It took forever to come up.” He also reflected on the immediate challenge that awaited him, “When I got up again there was another wave, right there.” Browne’s unwavering spirit in the face of such a challenging wipeout left onlookers amazed and concerned for his well-being.
