Lately, the Surfing community has been saddened by the sudden demise of the surf cinematographer, Larry Haynes. The photographer passed away after suffering a heart attack in his car. Recently, the footage of him catching his last wave is going viral on social media. Legendary surfer and old friend of Haynes, Kelly Slater re-shared the clip on his Instagram.

Larry Haynes passed away on 9th February 2023. Soon after the tragic news was announced, fellow surfers and fans mourned the loss of the talented surfer and photographer. Among the mourners was Kelly Slater, who is finding it hard to imagine the surfing world without Haynes. Slater penned down a heartfelt note on the day the news broke out. Today, he is thankful for the last surfing video shared, of his friend.

Kelly Slater shares the last memory of his friend

On 15th February 2023, Kelly Slater took to his Instagram to share a video of his late friend Larry Haynes. Amazed by the unseen video, Slater wrote,This is incredible.” Remembering his friend, he added, “Miss you, Larry! @fluid_vision.” The video was originally shared on Instagram by Brian Bielman and Dylan Truesdale.

In the self-recorded footage, Haynes successfully rode what turned out to be his last wave. It was revealed that Haynes passed away in the parking lot after surfing at Laniakea Beach, in Hawaii. The background audio narrates what went down with Hayne.

Grateful for the video, Slater took to the comments section before re-sharing it on his profile. He wrote, “So awesome. Thanks for the share!” Ever since Haynes’ death, Slater has visibly been on an emotional roller coaster.

On 10th February 2023, Kelly Slater took his Instagram to talk about his dear old friend, Larry Haynes. In his Instagram story, Slater started by mentioning the news of Haynes’ passing. Then, he credited Haynes for his contribution to the surfing community. Slater wrote about Haynes capturing everyone who caught a wave in front of him.

The surfing legend finds it hard to imagine the surfing world without Haynes and his positive energy. Slater revealed Haynes was always shouting and cheering for the surfers. He ended by writing that he’ll really miss the cinematographer.
