The viral-worthy story of Tony Adams, a rising star in the art world, first caught the attention of The News-Press in October 2020. From his garage in southwest Florida, Adams has been creating stunning designs on surfboards, transforming them into unique and functional pieces of art through his brand, Blue Monkey Boards. Influenced by the vibrant art scene in Chicagoland, where he was born and raised, Adams brought his creative talents to Cape Coral, Florida, in 2005.
While Adams had dabbled in various artistic mediums, it wasn’t until he discovered the captivating properties of resin that everything fell into place. Working with resin presented its own challenges, as it sets and hardens rapidly. However, he shared, “The curved edges of the boards provide a whole new dynamic and such a cool look when colors run over them.”
Adams’s artistic range is limitless. He has adorned many full-size surfboards and more than 50 smaller surfboards. All, in turn, pay tribute to music icons like the Grateful Dead and Prince, showcasing sports teams, and depicting the beauty of fish and turtles. Through his never been seen before art, Adams captures the essence of surfing culture.
