How a distinctive artist was born

All good things have a history laden with twists and turns, and Thomas’ is the same. The artist, in the interview, revealed that he was once too restrictive in his imagination and put many conditions on his creativity. But once he let go and started experimenting, he soon found his niche. In case you were wondering, ‘Fotomas’ is not Thomas’ real surname, but a name he adopted himself, after careful thought. Clearly, the name reflects ‘photo’ in some manner, but that was not his only inspiration.

He took the rest from a character from the movie, ‘Fantômas’, based on a book written by French writers Marcel Allain and Pierre Souvestre. Thomas liked the quiet and elusive character, as those are the characteristics he wished to achieve while taking his shots. To someone who has never seen his art before, he describes it as, “A subject with a very refined, colourful and stylized beach landscape in the background with straight lines that extend to infinity.” For him, art is the ultimate form of human expression.
